DAY 7EVENyay it's a lil less boring!
IP was boring as usual but there's Billy on-duty to give me some entertainment. `phew. since IP & portable are in the same area, i've got 2 radiographers to keep me company. heh and most of the time, i followed Chengwu fer portable duties. `lucky! wahahhaa. everytime when he's preparing to go out for rounds with the portable machine, i would stick out my feet to block his way & i earn a trip! heehees. `grins
(erm but i wouldnt have dared to do that if it was someone i dun really know well ..ha`haa)

one word. T I R I N G
he usually waits fer more cases then he goes fer a round to finish them all in a shot, provided they're not urgent cases. guess wad ..portable duties get to hold on to a pager. ha`haa so that they can page u fer any request of xray in the wards. but like i said, we dun normally got straight after the page, wait fer more cases first. the reason fer it should be it's tedious & TIRING!! ha`haa. the portable machine is real heavy, so much so i can get carried away by it when i try pushing it myself.
thank gdness there's always a radiographer assistant to go along.
besides that, imagine pushing the heavy machine from ward 12C to ward 10A to ward 8D bed 53, 74 to ward 6C to ward 5B and then to the ICUs too. you can even feel warm in an air-conned envm. hai.
but it was a good experience each time ..
ICU can be alil more difficult because of all the tubes & stuff whilst norm wards are okay. there isnt much of radiation protection for portable xrays, so we had to ask everyone to leave the room & keep a distance.
(i was kinda taken aback when we were at this particular ward, the whole grp of 15plus nurses ALL disappeared in less than 3sec when they know we're taking xray. erm ..i mean there isnt a need to have such a big rxn rite? `raised eyebrow)
anw, as fer us, there's only one lead shield, so the assistant holds it up, the radiographer stands behind her, followed by me.
did i get the most protection by being the last? hmmm ..i doubt it. i think the radiographer is cos he got me & the assistant to cover front & back. hahahaa.
