DAY 17EVENTEEN
B U S Yjust before the busy day started, i was asked to help communicate in chinese with one uncle in the
fluoroscopy room. all the
4 people in the room including the doctor was either malay or indian, hahaa so they asked fer my help. i went in wearing the lead apron & thyroid shielding.
(looked so funny) contributed as much help i could, explaining to the uncle the procedures and asking him to keep the barium swallow in his mouth before the the doctor says swallow. so i was standing right beside the patient throughout the whole procedure when the doctor was doing the examination.

after that, the doctor told me
"next time dun stand next to the patient because you're getting all the radiation" GREAT! you only tell me when everything's over?!?! no wonder the assistants where all standing so far away, behind the lead shield.
sigh. i just found it funny after the whole incident, and very stupid of me too. wahahhaha. so that was the fluoroscopy room.
after work, i get to see the
EWSL room. still dun get wad it really stands fer, i only remembered
S stands fer
shockwave. anyway it's using very strong shockwave, if im not wrong ultrasound, in attempt to dissperse the stones in patient's stomach or bladder & so on. saw the whole process of how to localise the stone with the image intensifier, then the shock begins with very loud
"tock tock tock tock tock" sound, the patient was given painkillers to be ejected on his own whenever he cannot bear with the pain.
two words:
DARN COOL!ha`haa but the radiographer said it's a boring job. i can see why too ..ha`haa
